Y’all! We are beyond excited to announce our first design collaboration with KK Buteau Designs! The earrings we designed with KK launched today on her site and we can’t wait to tell you the story of how they came to be.
This summer Fran was studying abroad in Italy and she discovered this really chic Italian jewelry brand. She bought a pair of their earrings and sent us all photos and of course we were obsessed. Elson went to visit Fran in June and and she bought the earrings, too. Then our mom went to visit Fran and she of course had to have a pair so we bought another pair. And then Braf came and couldn’t be the only one without the earrings (duh!) so she got a pair, too.
Going into the trip we knew we wanted a piece of the same jewelry that we could all wear, so we were so excited! These were the perfect earrings for everyday wear — super lightweight, barely there, and they go with everything. You can see them on Fran below. We loved the super long chain and that it was just a flash of gold — really simple and versatile. After wearing these earrings for only a few weeks, the metal started to turn and all of our earrings are now totally black on the bottom of the chain — you can see below in the far right photo how tarnished they got. We were so disappointed because it was so special to have the same piece of jewelry for the four of us and we only got to wear them for a few weeks.
A few months later, Braf was trying to decide what she wanted to gift her bridesmaids, and we found out that KK does custom jewelry for brides. You can custom design pieces with her and then receive a discount when you order in bulk. So, we decided to recreate our Italian earrings with KK so that each of us could have a new pair!
We decided to work with KK because we have a lot of her jewelry already and wear her bracelet chains 24/7 — to workout, sleep, shower, cook, all the things, and they still look perfect! KK uses quality material that doesn’t tarnish, so we knew we wouldn’t have the same problem we did with the Italian brand.
KK sent us two versions of the earrings to try and we liked the one with the thinner chain. Braf posted about it here and asked y’all to vote on which pair you liked! It was pretty much split 50/50. A few days after we posted that reel, KK told us that she had so many people asking her if they could buy the earrings, that she wanted to see if we would want to collab with her to make them available on her site for purchase. And of course we were so honored!
This collab is so special to us for so many reasons. First, KK is our sorority sister! We love supporting our sisters, real and through Tri Delt. KK and her manager Ellen are also just the sweetest people ever, and it’s been so energizing to work with them. This is also neat for us because with our business model we don’t carry inventory — we offer personal styling services that you can read about here, but our dream has always been to work with brands we love to create pieces that y’all can enjoy, too.

This earring is perfect for daily wear and will elevate any outfit with it’s extra long chain and flash of gold.
