Where to Shop in Paris

When you step foot in Paris you immediately understand why it’s the fashion capital of the world. Everything is beautiful — the people, the architecture, the stores, the streets. Travel has always inspired our styling and Paris may be at the top of the list of inspirational cities.

We are not in any way claiming to experts on Paris shopping - but, we did do some scouting and have put together a pretty comprehensive list of all the stores we’ve visited and loved! Please comment if you have additional recommendations — we would love to hear and our goal is for this to be an ongoing list that we add to as y’all tell us your recommendations, too!

We also understand that going to Paris may not be in the cards for everyone — so we’re working on some more posts to bring Paris to you…they will be coming soon! Also, we’ve linked Instagram accounts for a lot of the brands below — it’s amazing the inspiration you can gather from virtual window shopping.

We also follow Habitually Chic who has a guide to Paris that you can purchase — she has wonderful recommendations and her guide includes fashion favorites, but also restaurants, tips to navigate Paris, recommendations for pastries, souvenirs, you name it. She’s the expert on all things chic Paris if you’re looking for more!

HOW to shop in paris

Our favorite way to shop and explore Paris in general is to enter a location into Maps and then wander up and down the streets in that area. It’s impossible to list every boutique and cute store to go to and it will also be impossible for you to visit all that are listed below…so two tips. 1. Make a rule for yourself (we do this when we are traveling!) if you see a store or boutique that looks cute, just go in! Say yes to everything. You never know what you will discover…and then promise you’ll share your finds with us! 2. Research beforehand a few brands or stores that you’re dying to go to! If you don’t, you’ll be glued to your Maps trying to zig zag from location to location. We promise you’ll discover amazing things along the way if you start with just one area.

In our opinion, the best arrondissements (neighborhoods) for shopping are the 1st, 3rd, and 6th. Below you’ll find stores in these areas and what we like each of them for.

Rue Saint HonorÉ

The 1st is the most classic Paris, designer shopping with all of the high fashion boutiques, nice hotels, and restaurants. Rue Saint Honoré is a street name that you could search for in your Maps. When you arrive, you’ll find Chanel, Goyard, Chloe, Dior, Celine, Fendi, Valentino, and the list goes on. It’s a beautiful street and definitely worth checking out even if you aren’t planning to buy a designer item on your trip — it’s worth it for the inspo and the photos!

Timeless Pearly is a playful jewelry brand that is also in this area and you can make an appointment to visit on their site. It’s free to make an appointment for their showroom — you can make your own jewelry from scratch! You pick the chain, the charms, and they put it together right there for you to take home that day. This would be a fun activity to do if you’re with friends, sisters, or your mom. You can also shop online!

211 Rue Saint-Honoré, 75001 Paris, France*

*(This is not a store! You cannot walk in. DM them to make an appointment.)

You’ll also find Isabel Marant, ba&sh, Golden Goose (the Golden Goose Paris perfume smells exactly like how I imagine Paris), Hogan, Theory, Maje, Diptyque, Byredo, and more in the 1st.

The Marais

Before we even went to Paris, the vibe of the Marais is what came to mind when we thought about shopping in Paris. If you’ve been to SoHo in NYC, it’s somewhat similar, but much more charming and just insanely gorgeous. You’ll find cobblestone streets and storefronts for likely any mid-tier designer you can think of, but also the cutest Parisian boutiques!

Here’s a few that are worth checking out…

CHICHI CASTELNANGO

The CUTEST lingerie and swimwear. Have bought several swimsuits from them! The sizing can be weird, just a heads up if you ever decide to order online.

Instagram

37 Rue de Poitou, 75003 Paris, France

BONASTRE

Leather goods — they were having a sample sale in July!

Instagram

10 Rue du Perche, 75003 Paris, France

Bimba y lola

Bimba y Lola is a Spanish brand, but it’s become a sort of tradition for us to find one in whatever city we’re in. It’s a very bright, colorful brand! I always buy one of their cosmetics bag when I see one I like.

Instagram

34-36 Rue des Francs Bourgeois, 75003 Paris, France

The HOFF Brand

A fun and more affordable alternative to Golden Goose if you’re looking for something more unique.

Instagram

15 Rue Vieille-du-Temple, 75004 Paris, France

TARA JARMON

“French chic with a twist” is their motto and that is spot on! This is a great one to enter into your Maps and just wander around the area. There’s also a dedicated section in Galeries Lafayette.

Instagram

98 Rue Vieille-du-Temple, 75003 Paris, France

JIMMY FAIRLY

Fun sunglasses! It’s a French brand with an English name. I bought a pair in Paris last time I was there and wear them all the time — they’ve held up well! Prices are in between $100-200 USD, so not horrible for sunnies!

Instagram

64 Rue Vieille-du-Temple, 75004 Paris, France

There’s also an Anine Bing, Axel Arigato, Maje, Sandro, ba&sh, & Other Stories, Diptyque, Veja, No Name, Hogan and more in the Marais.

6th Arrondissement

Another favorite area for shopping is the 6th arrondissement. To us, the 6th feels a bit more interior design, gallery, and home decor-focused than fashion, and it’s also a little quieter than the other areas we’ve previously mentioned. There’s some designer stores, independent stores, antique stores, and galleries.

Maria de la Orden

(Not technically in the 6th, but very close!) Maria de la Orden is a French/Spanish brand recommended by Habitually Chic! Elson bought one of their swimsuits! It was a very cute stop if you’re in the area.

Instagram

38 Rue de l'Université, 75007 Paris, France

city pharma

Another Habitually Chic recommendation that I checked out! Discounted skincare and beauty products — it was very crowded when I went, but they had a whole wall of Skin Ceuticals products that were pretty heavily discounted.

Instagram

26 Rue du Four, 75006 Paris, France

Several designer stores are nearby and also more mid-tier designers like Zadig & Voltaire, A.P.C., IRO, Manoush (very cute!), Intimissimi and more.

Galeries Lafayette

Galeries Lafayette is a must-do if you’re a fashion lover in Paris; it’s in the 9th arrondissement, which could be a bit out of the way depending on where you are, but close-ish to Montmartre is you are headed to or from there. It is a stunning mall with the most gorgeous brands. You could literally spend hours just looking at all the beautiful things! Even if you don’t buy anything it’s worth going 1. just to see the interior and 2. because the rooftop is free and has a stunning view of Paris and the Eiffel Tower — maybe one of the best views in Paris!

Some of the brands inside that are worth checking out — the Galeries Lafayette’s own brand — this section has trendy, more affordable items. From Future is also a favorite — Lily Collins wore one of their sweatshirts in an episode of Emily in Paris! Also of note, the first floor of Galeries Lafayette is all designer brands, so it’s another great option, and potentially one without lines, if you’re looking to make a designer item purchase in Paris. There is a Le Labo inside the Galeries Lafayette and Le Labo Paris carries a scent unique to Paris called Vanille 44 that’s worth going to smell.

This link is a great resource if you want to see what brands are at Galeries Lafayette! Also, note that there are separate buildings for the men and women’s departments — so your husband or boyfriend doesn’t get confused.

Instagram

40 Boulevard Haussmann, 75009 Paris, France

galerie dior

In addition to fabulous shopping, Paris is of course known for it’s fabulous museums, including the ones honoring fashion houses with roots in the city. The Dior museum was absolutely incredible.

It starts with a walk through the life of Christian Dior and then takes you through highlights of his various collections ending with showcasing several Dior pieces worn by notable women throughout the years. The tickets are around €12 and we booked online with no issues!

There is also the Louis Vuitton Foundation and the Musée Yves Saint Laurent — let us know your thoughts if you have been to either of these!

Brands to look out for

MANGO | Zara | Massimo Dutti

They’re all just better in Europe. Each with several locations around the city.

HOGAN

Cute sneakers if you want an alternative to Golden Goose! Galeries Lafayette carries Hogan.

Instagram

52 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, 75008 Paris, France

Aime

Aime isn’t fashion, but the store is so gorgeous you should pop in if you’re nearby. It’s kind of like the Glossier of Paris. Elson has a French friend named Sophie who told her about Aime. They believe in beauty from the inside out, so it’s all clean and a lot of supplements, but they also have makeup, skincare, and the most amazing perfume oil. We have this one! Sophie let me try some when we were together in person, and I had to go buy one for myself!

Instagram

16 Bd des Filles du Calvaire, 75011 Paris, France

Oysho

Another favorite brand for athleisure and swimwear. Several locations!

Instagram | SHOP ONLINE

SEZANE

A very feminine, French classic with several locations.

Instagram | SHOP ONLINE

No Name

Another fun sneakers brand — sold at Galeries Lafayette.

Instagram

26 Rue Étienne Marcel, 75002 Paris, France

Intimissimi

This is an Italian brand, but the Paris locations are nice. Cute, affordable pajamas and lingerie! Several locations!

Instagram | SHOP ONLINE

Maje | Sandro | Ba&sh

I group these three together in my mind although I’m not sure why — I think they all seem very French and there are several locations each throughout the city. Sandro is more cool girl and Maje and ba&sh are more feminine, flirty. A bit on the expensive side, but they all have beautiful things!

SHOP MAJE | SHOP SANDRO | SHOP BA&SH

CuriositAs and L’Atelier des Créateurs

These two stores are near each other in the Montmartre area and are both beautiful! The candle brand at L’Atelier des Créateurs is called Bougie Parfum de Lumiére.

FEELS LIKE PARIS

Books are the perfect way to travel from right where you are — we’ve curated some of our favorites below that truly make you feel like you’re in the heart of Paris without leaving your living room.

Helpful tips

VAT

Remember that you can get a tax refund on purchases over €100.01 in France! If your primary residence is a non-EU country, you’ve been in France for less than 6 months, you are at least 16 years old, and you purchase an item over €100.01, you are eligible to receive money back on your purchase. VAT stands for value-added tax, a tax paid by the end-consumer, but if you are not a French citizen you are eligible to receive this tax back. The percentage you get back depends on the item’s category, but it can be up to 22%!

When you check out at the store they will give you documentation that you’ll need to keep up with to submit at the airport. There’s differing information online about if you need your physical passport or if a photo will be fine — a photo has worked for us in the past, but just FYI that you may want to bring along your physical passport just in case!

The final step is that you’ll scan your documentation at the VAT kiosk or desk at the airport from which you depart. Your refund will be issued to the credit card that you used to purchase your new items and yay! Money back for you.

ZIP CODES

Each neighborhood, or arrondissement in Paris is numbered. The numbers appear on the street signs so you can always have a general idea of where you are in the city. Additionally, the last two digits of the zip code of an address is the arrondissement. This saved me so many times when I was trying to figure out if something I wanted to go to was close to where I was or not! This may be common knowledge, but we recently learned, so sharing for others.

A few more favorites (Non-Fashion)

Ladurée & Pierre Hermé

It’s fun to buy a few of both of these and taste test them to compare — both very famous macarons! There is a Ladurée and a Pierre Herme down the street from eachother in the Marais.

Comptoir Gourmet

For an Italian-inspired, shopping break lunch in the Marais. Tell Paolo hi! We follow each other on Instagram.

Café Nuances

A great flat white and a cool interior.

Carette

TikTok viral, but the hot chocolate is actually so good.

Breizh Crepes

Insanely good crepes — both savory and sweet. Recommendation from Habitually Chic.
