Transitional Fall Pieces

Our biggest question right now is, “What do I wear when it’s 90 degrees, but I want to start dressing for Fall?” If you live in the South you’re probably asking that question, too. It’s officially game day and pumpkin season, but the air is anything but crisp. We’ve styled three looks below with different formulas to give you inspiration for how to dress for Fall when it’s still sweltering.

Formula 1 —

Sleeveless sweater + leather shorts

Leather is one of those things that has become a Fall staple. It’s a super chic way to look put together and there’s so many brands offering affordable leather options now. It definitely does not have to be expensive to wear! Leather pants can be HOT, so we love pairing roomy leather shorts (go tighter and you’ll be miserable) with a lightweight sleeveless sweater for fall. These Tory Burch sherpa sandals are to die for and yes, may be a little toasty, but at least you have the open toe. Bracelet and earrings are KK Buteau.

Formula 2 —

Breezy blouse + roomy jeans

This is a very 70s look to us and we’re here for it. These breezy tops are everywhere; Mango and H&M have a ton that are affordable! Jeans can be hot, but to us, wide leg is lesser so and can be a good option to not feel so constricted in the heat.

Formula 3 —

Silky, slouchy cargos + sleeveless sweater

Cargos are so in right now and good thing because they are roomy and feel like pajamas but still manage to look put together. Pair them with a sleeveless sweater or bodysuit, accessorize accordingly, and you’ll look like Fall, but feel like Summer.

A few other transitional tips — accessories are your friend. You can go ahead and swap your Summer purse for your Fallone, throw on a bootie or a shoe with a little fur and start to bring in those Fall elements to your looks. If you’re not into leather, tweed can be a good alternative.

We’re always here if you need one-on-one help with putting together Fall transitional looks, want to build a capsule wardrobe, or want us to style outfits you already own.
