Poema’s Bridal Week

Wedding season is in full swing, so this week we are focusing on all things bridal! It’s like PCBFW (Poema Clothiers Bridal Fashion Week) over here. Whether you are newly engaged, going to a million weddings (we just updated our Black Tie wedding guest dress edit HERE), or are a Mother of the Bride | Mother of the Groom, we’ve got something for you this week.

Today we're sharing a recap of everything we wore + details from Elson’s (the oldest sis) wedding day last July. Everyone we worked with was absolutely incredible β€” if you are planning a wedding in the Birmingham, AL area, definitely look into the people we worked with! We linked their websites at the end β€” we cannot recommend them enough. And of course, if you need help with your wedding guest, MOB, or bridal style, we would love to help. You can explore our styling services HERE.

Xx,

Poema

THE DRESS

My dress was by Jesus Peiro and I would choose it one hundred times over. It was so 'me' and flattered my body type, which was obviously the number one thing I wanted in a dress! Being so short, (I'm 5'2!) I feel that long dresses make me look even shorter sometimes, so I wanted a style that would elongate my body, and I think this one did just that. I got it from The White Room in Birmingham - they are one of the only bridal shops in Birmingham that does alterations in house; they are extremely detailed and are the kindest women who made me feel at home in the shop and gorgeous in my dress.

THE SHOES

I was dying for these pearl platforms by Jimmy Choo, but I decided it would probably be wiser to spend less since I might only wear those shoes a few times after the wedding! I ended up getting my heels from Amazon of all places and they were actually so comfortable. They are lookalikes for the Mach & Mach double bow heels ($1,045) and mine were $60! You can shop some heel selects for brides below.

THE BRIDESMAIDS

My gorgeous bridesmaids wore a white strapless dress by Amsale from Bella Bridesmaids in Homewood, Alabama. I picked this dress because I thought it gave everyone an hourglass figure and it seemed like the most comfortable option for a mid-Summer wedding. I was nervous about having my girls wear white, too, but I loved how it looked all together and I think with my neckline being so different from theirs it turned out really unique.

THE MAIDS OF HONOR

My stunning sissies! I wanted my sisters to have a small element in their look that differentiated them from my other bridesmaids as the maids of honor. We decided on an orchid in their hair and I loved how it was so subtle, but signified that they were the MOHs.

MOTHER OF THE BRIDE

Our beautiful mom, Monica, (we call her Moni), wore a bronze metallic dress by Jovani from the Clothestree in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. Tori at the Vestavia store helped us pick it out and our mom loved it β€” Tori is the best. Highly recommend asking to work with her if you can! There’s also a new Clothestree location that just opened in Nashville! We’re writing another blog with our mom later this week on tips for selecting a MOB dress! Stay tuned…

THE RECEPTION DRESS

Towards the end of our reception I changed into this white mini dress by Retrofete! I know there are mixed opinions on having a second dress, but I am beyond happy that I did, mainly because of how hot I got during our reception. This dress literally came in on Thursday before the wedding and I didn't take the tags off until I put it on at the reception because I couldn't decide if I was going to wear it or not, haha! We linked reception dresses for brides below that we are loving right now.

JEWELRY

I wore my aunt’s earrings as my β€˜something borrowed’ but we’re linking a few pairs of earrings that we love for brides and bridesmaids! Anything Jennifer Behr is gorgeous if you’re okay with a higher price tag, but the ones below are at a range of prices.

OUR WEDDING PLANNER

We used Summer Schor of Southern Seasons Events as our wedding planner and we cannot say enough amazing things about her. She was not only a wedding planner, but became a best friend to us. She listens to every single thing you say, remembers in detail, and is the kindest person I know. I cannot thank her enough. We love Summer so much that we named one of our services after her! 'The Summer' is our styling service for bridesmaids inspired by the attention to detail + kindness Summer showed us AND the stress that she helped take off of me by communicating with my bridesmaids for me. That's what we'll do for you, too.
